Whale Watching in Gran Canaria
At Spirit of the Sea, our passion for the sea and marine life has driven us for over 25 years to bring our clients closer to the wonder of whale watching. After many years of experience sailing, we decided to build the Spirit of the Sea, a catamaran designed to offer the best whale watching in Gran Canaria.
This catamaran, built based on our experience and driven by passion, was designed especially for this activity.
Our excursions last two and a half hours. Weather permitting, on the 1:30 p.m. departure we stop at the coast before entering the port for a refreshing swim. If you wish to do so, please bring your swimwear and a towel. On all other departures, we devote our time entirely to searching for cetaceans and other marine species in their natural environment.
Our commitment to the environment and the educational community leads us to actively collaborate with the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in collecting data for their research projects. Groups of students from the ULPGC Faculty of Veterinary Medicine also regularly participate, as do marine biologists who visit us to collect data and samples. We are also in direct contact with the Animal Recovery Centre to rescue animals in danger. We contribute to the circular economy by collecting plastic and nets during our voyages to recycle them and give them a new life.

The Spirit of the Sea has been designed to offer whale watching in Gran Canaria that is safe, comfortable, and exciting, focused on the observation of dolphins and whales. This catamaran has been built with the highest safety and comfort standards to ensure that our passengers enjoy a unique experience on the sea.
The main design criteria were:

- Specialization: Created specifically for cetacean observation, maximizing the chances of sightings.
- In order to enhance your experience, we recommend that you bring a jacket in case of wind, sun protection, and take measures against seasickness if you are not accustomed to sailing

One of the most unique features of the Spirit of the Sea is its two hulls, which have been designed as galleries with windows. Through these underwater windows, each passenger can enjoy an exclusive view of cetaceans beneath the water. Watching dolphins and whales swimming or interacting beneath the surface is a one-of-a-kind experience that you can only have on our whale watching in Gran Canaria tours.
Often, cetaceans approach the catamaran, playing with their calves, feeding, swimming, or even observing us curiously. Not only do we look, but they are also interested in us!
